Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

What I find most interesting about this version of the Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake recipie is how it differs from the current official version on the Hellmann’s website. The current version has less flour, less mayonnaise and adds 3 eggs.

CHOCOLATE MAYONNAlSE CAKE

Delicious cake that stays tender and moist to the last slice. And so easy to make. Whole-egg Hellmann’s replaces both eggs and shortening.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups un-sifted all-purpose flour
  • cups sugar
  • cup unsweetened cocoa
  • tsp baking powder
  • tsp baking soda
  • cups HELLMANN'S Real Mayonnaise
  • ½ cups water
  • teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  • Grease 2 {9” x 1 ½”) layer pans; line bottom with waxed paper.
  • Sift together dry ingredients into large bowl.
  • Stir in Real Mayonnaise.
  • Gradually stir in water and vanilla until smooth and blended.
  • Pour into prepared pans. Bake in 350° F. (moderate) oven about 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
  • Cool completely.
  • Remove from pans.
  • Makes 2 layers.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package yellow, white or devil's food cake
  • 1 envelope Dream Whip Whipped Topping Mx *use right from envelope
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in large bowl of electric mixer.
  • Blend until moistened.
  • Beat at medium speed for 4 minutes.
  • Pour into greased and floured pans (see below).
  • Bake at 350°
  • Cool in pans as directed, then remove from pans and finish cooling on racks.

Dream Cake may be baked in the following pans, cooling time is 10 minutes

  • Two 9" layer pans, bake for 30 minutes.
  • Three 8" layer pans, bake for 35 minutes.
  • Two 9"x5" loaf pans, bake for 45 minutes.
  • One 13"x9" pan, bake for 40-45 minutes.
  • 40 medium cupcake pans (½-⅓ full), bake for 20 minutes.
  • One 10" tube pan, bake for 45-50 minutes, cool in pan 15 minutes.
  • One 10" bundt pan, bake for 40 minutes, cool in pan 15 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter (soft) Or ½ cup soft butter and ½ cup heavy cream
  • cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour sifted 2-3 times
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Cream butter until light.
  • Gradually add sugar and beat (use a low mixture speed) until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs (one at a time) and beat well after each addition.
  • Sift flour, salt, and baking soda together.
  • Add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream, beginning with the flour mixture.
  • Add the flavoring and stir lightly.
  • Do not overbeat.
  • Pour into an ungreased 9" tube pan and bake for 1 hour 20 minutes or until a straw inserted in the center comes out dry and not sticky.
  • Cool on wire cake rack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cup flour
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ½ cup walnut meats
  • ¾ tsp soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Cream shortening, add sugar and cream.
  • Add beaten egg and applesauce.
  • Sift together all dry ingredients and mix them all together.
  • Bake in a loaf pan for 350° for 50 minutes.
