Applesauce Cake

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cup flour
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ½ cup walnut meats
  • ¾ tsp soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ¼ tsp salt

  1. Cream shortening, add sugar and cream.

  2. Add beaten egg and applesauce.

  3. Sift together all dry ingredients and mix them all together.

  4. Bake in a loaf pan for 350° for 50 minutes.
