Pound Cake

1 cup shortening 1 cup butter 2 cup sugar 10 egg yolks well beaten ¼ cup lemon juice 10 egg whites stiffly beaten 4½ cup flour ½ tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 2 tsp nutmeg
Cream shortening, butter and sugar
Add yolks and lemon juice, beat thoroughly.
Fold in egg whites and sifted dry ingredients.
Bake in a wax paper lined loaf pan at 350° for 90 minutes.

Beat 1 cup sugar
¾ cup of Crisco
2 eggs
Sift 2 cups of flour
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
Mix together Add your mix and dates to the mixture, you beat (a little at a time) until all is mixed together.
Before putting into the oven sprinkle package of chocolate chips and a ½ cup of sugar over the top
Preheat oven to 350° and bake for 30-35 minutes

1 cup sugar ¾ cup butter ¾ cup Sour milk 1 egg 1 cup chopped raisins 1 tablespoonful allspice 2 cups flour 1 teaspoonful soda
Cream the butter and sugar, add the egg, mix the flour, baking soda, and spices, adding the milk and flour mixture alternately.
Lastly add the raisins, rolled in flour.
Bake in a moderate oven (350-375°F) in a well-greased pan.

1 pkg lemon cake mix 1 pkg Orange flavored gelatin 1 cup boiling water ½ cup cold water frosting
Bake cake following package instructions in a large pan.
Prick cooled cake with a fork.
Mix gelatin with hot & cold water.
Pour gelatin over the cake.
Refrigerate for 2 hours

1 c. butter or margarine 1 c. sugar 4 eggs 4 c. flour 2 c. sour milk** 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in a small amount of water 1 tsp. baking powder TOPPING: 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon
Cream margarine and sugar until lemon-colored; add eggs, one-at-a-time.
Beat 1 minute each.
Add flour and sour milk alternately; beating thoroughly after each addition.
Add salt, soda, and baking powder; mixing well.
Pour into greased and sugared 13 x 9-inch pan; sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar topping.
Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes, checking center with a toothpick until pick comes out dry.
*Recipe from Great Grandmother who came to America before the Civil War.
**Substitute by adding 2 tbsp. vinegar in 2 cup measure and adding milk to make 2 cups.
