Bangor Brownies

 

Bangor Brownies

  • 1/4 cup shortening (melted)
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 squares bitter chocolate (melted)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • touch salt
  • 1 cup nuts ((optional))
  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together

  2. Mix the ingredients in the order given and beat thoroughly

  3. Spread the mixture evenly on a cake pan that has been lined with oiled paper.

  4. Bake about 15 minutes in a pre-heated slow oven 350°F

  5. Remove the paper from the cake as soon as it is taken from the oven and cut into small squares or strips with a sharp knife
