Shortbread Cookies

  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 cup flour (sifted)
  • dash salt
  • sugar ((for sprinkling))

  1. Mix the first four ingredients (Butter, sugar, flour, salt) 

  2. Roll out to 1/3″ to 1/2″ thickness.

  3. Cut with square cookie cutter; sprinkle tops with sugar and prick with a fork,

  4. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 300º F for 20-25 minutes.

  5. Cookies will dry out but not brown.
