So the upcoming Saint Ann’s annual German Mass at historic Saint Louis Church (aka Buffalo Mass Mob X) has had me inspired to do some digging in the family archives for St. Ann’s stuff. My great grandparents (Charles F Eichhorn & Theresa Zielbaur) were married there in 1910 (by a Fr. Gustave Reinsch, S.J.) before moving to St. Matthew’s Parish.
Today I am posting photos scanned in from the 1958 Centennial Celebration Book. I have also uploaded a PDF of a portion of the book: Saint Ann 1858-1958 part 1 (I am still working on scanning in the advertising section- a great record of old Buffalo retail).
1 pkg. Frozen green beans
1 can mushroom soup
1 can French fried onions
Partially cook 1 pkg. Frozen green beans. Place in casserole and add 1 cap soup. Add a little water if necessary and mix. Cover with French fried onions. Bake in a 350° oven until bubbling- about 30-35 minutes.
Melt butter and mix with flour. Add cold milk and broth. Stir and cook over low heat till it thickens. Add chicken, green pepper, pimento and mushrooms and juice. Heat thoroughly. Serve in patty shells or over baking powder biscuits.
Retail geekery- Hills shopping cart (found at Salvation Army), Quality Market shopping basket & Twin Fair stamped pattern (both at St. Vincent de Paul thrift store)
