Hot Dog Relish
Ingredients
- 4 quarts green tomato
- 1 medium cabbage
- 4 green peppers
- 10 medium onions
- 2 red peppers
- ¾ cup salt
- 6 cups vinegar
- 2 lbs brown sugar
- 2 tbsp tumeric
- ¼ oz celery seed
- 4 tbsp mustard seed
Instructions
- Chop vegetables and mix with salt.
- Let stand for one hour then drain thoroughly and put in a pot with remaining ingredients.
- Boil for 1 hour, put in hot jars.
Notes
Important Note:
The original recipe did not give canning instructions- just to put in hot jars and seal. Due to changes in food safety, I would suggest putting in jars, putting lids on, and freezing. (In short I don’t know which would be safer, hot water sealing or pressure sealing)
