Mystery Fruitcake

Course after church coffee hour, Dessert

Equipment

  • 1 10" tube pan https://amzn.to/43KLUt1

Ingredients

  • 1 package cake mix honey spice, yellow, white, or devil's food
  • 4 cups candied mixed fruit
  • ½ cup red candied cherries whole
  • ½ cup green candied cherries whole
  • 1 cup dates cut up
  • cups pecan halves
  • 1 package fluffy white frosting mix

Instructions

  • Bake cake as directed on package.
  • Cool.
  • Crumble cooled cake into large bowl and add rest of ingredients.
  • Make fluffy white frosting according to directions and add to fruit, nuts, and cake mixture.
  • Stir with spoon or toss together with hands until mixture is damp and blended.
  • Pack tightly into foil-lined 10" tube pan and pat down with buttered hands until smooth.
  • Cover cake with foil and chill in refrigerator at least 24 hours.
  • Slice with sharp knife and serve cold.

It’s not just fruitcake, it’s mystery fruitcake!
