BAKLAVA-Walnut Honey Dessert

Ingredients

  • cups walnuts coarsely ground
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Phyllo dough
  • ½ cup honey
  • melted butter

Instructions

Combine:

  • 1½ cups walnuts, coarsely ground
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • In a well-buttered shallow baking dish approximately 12×8 inches, place 1 sheet of phyllo dough and brush well with melted butter.
  • Repeat with 2 more sheets, folding in any overlapping edges. Sprinkle with ⅓ of walnut mixture; alternate layers of 3 sheets of buttered phyllo and walnut mixture; end with 3 phyllo sheets.
  • Cut into squares or triangles and bake in a 375° oven 45 minutes or until golden.
  • Pour evenly over assembled layers: 1/2 cup honey
  • Let cool before removing from dish. Serve at room temperature or reheat briefly in a 350* oven.
